Suggestions for safely managing chapter funds
For 2008 and beyond, the IRS is requiring a
new level of filing input from “subunits” (in our case, chapters) of
non-profit organizations.
Fortunately, National Alpha Lambda Delta has a “group exemption”
from the Internal Revenue Service.
As the parent organization, National Alpha Lambda Delta will include
chapters in the Form 990 return on behalf of ALD chapters. However,
to do so, the chapter annual report must be filed.
The information on the chapter annual report is the information
required by the IRS to maintain the 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
If your chapter receives any correspondence from the IRS, please
forward that correspondence to the national office.
Each sub-unit/chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta has a sub-unit number
from the IRS. IF your chapter establishes an off campus bank
account, you must use this sub-unit number (EIN) to establish the
account. Please call National Alpha Lambda Delta (1-800-9ALPHA1) to
find out the chapter’s sub-unit number.
